Secure Showings

Practical safety training for real estate professionals. A 2-hour, hands-on seminar built for the way agents actually work.

An app summons help. We train the 60 seconds until it arrives.

Safety in New Jersey real estate continuing education

Real estate licensee safety is already a core continuing-education topic area in New Jersey. A new law, P.L. 2026, c.52, goes further: for license terms beginning July 1, 2027, one hour of real estate licensee safety becomes a mandatory part of the 18-hour continuing-education requirement. It does not change the current license term.

Secure Showings has been built with that standard in mind.

The program

Secure Showings is a two-hour, in-person, hands-on safety seminar built for real estate professionals. It connects prevention, decision-making, and practical escape skills to one goal: reaching safety. The goal is to escape, not to remain and fight. No martial-arts experience is needed.

Why it matters

22% of residential REALTORS® reported experiencing a situation that made them fear for their personal safety or the safety of their personal information in 2024.

Source: National Association of REALTORS®, 2024 Member Safety Residential Report (survey of 31,232 members; 1,423 respondents; margin of error ±2.5% at 95% confidence).

Situations covered

  • Private showings and open houses
  • Meeting unfamiliar clients
  • Unfamiliar properties: entrances, exits, and confined spaces
  • Working independently with no backup nearby
  • Lockbox distractions, blocked hallways, and pressure to enter a basement or isolated area

What the 2 hours look like

  • Welcome and opening activity: goals, ground rules for safe, controlled practice, and a quick reflection on your last uneasy showing.
  • Prevention and showing preparation: client screening, property intelligence, check-in plans, and the Ladder of Safety.
  • Situational awareness: reading a property, the 60-second arrival scan, positioning near exits.
  • Boundaries and verbal skills: setting limits professionally and leaving a showing without confrontation.
  • Defensive tools (discussion only): flashlight, personal alarm, and related options.
  • Hands-on escape practice: creating space, a wrist-grab release, and moving to the exit, in slow, controlled, cooperative partner practice.
  • Wrap-up scenario and take-home card.

What participants practice

  • Situational awareness and prevention
  • Recognizing problems early
  • Creating space and setting boundaries
  • Breaking contact and exiting safely
  • Defensive tools: flashlight, personal alarm, and related options (discussion)
  • Wrist-grip releases and moving toward an exit in controlled, cooperative practice

The Ladder of Safety: recognize danger early, create space, break contact, exit safely, and get help. The objective is not to teach agents how to fight.
