Secure Care

Practical safety training for healthcare workers. A 2-hour, hands-on seminar — built for the realities of clinical work.

The program

Secure Care is a two-hour, in-person, hands-on safety program developed specifically for clinical staff. It was built for the gap between classroom de-escalation training and the physical skills staff actually need when words stop working — the 60 seconds until help arrives. The program combines recognition and awareness with physical practice for the situations healthcare workers actually encounter.

Situations covered

  • Bedside care with agitated, confused, or intoxicated patients

  • Behavioral-health and psychiatric units

  • Emergency departments and waiting areas

  • Patient rooms with limited exits

  • Night shifts and reduced staffing

  • Working one-on-one with unpredictable patients

What the 2 hours look like

  • Recognize — Reading escalation before it turns physical: warning signs, special populations, and the moment de-escalation stops working.

  • De-escalate — Your facility’s existing system, reinforced in plain language. (Full version for new teams, bridge version for CPI-trained staff.)

  • Disengage — Hands-on practice: grip, hold, and embrace escapes; framing and defensive base; getting up safely. Every repetition ends the same way — break contact, create space, exit, get help.

  • Get help — Your facility’s actual systems: codes, buttons, radios, and reporting — mapped during the pre-session call.

  • After an incident — Report, document, and post-incident resources.

Built around your facility

Every Secure Care session starts with a pre-session customization call. We map your help-summoning systems, your policies, and your unit-specific risks — so the training reflects the building your staff actually works in, not a generic program.

What participants practice

  • Recognizing escalation before it turns physical

  • Reading the moment de-escalation stops working

  • Breaking grips, holds, and unwanted embraces

  • Creating space and moving to the exit

  • Summoning help — your facility’s actual systems

Recognize. Disengage. Get out. The objective is not to teach clinical staff how to fight or restrain — it’s to recognize escalation early, break contact, create space, exit safely, and get help.
